SOLO REPORT: (Al Hermans)

Event #8 was held on September 24. There were 108 drivers with times.

Registration is open for events 9 & 10 on MSR which are scheduled for October 8 and 29 respectively.  There are 75 entries so far for event #9 and 39 entries for event #10.  Unfortunately, event #9 is in conflict with RallyX nationals.

There is a National Champ Tour event in Frederick Oklahoma on October 20-23. Entries are a bit low and the decision to cancel the event will be made on October 5. There are 60 entries so far and they need 120 to make it happen. If anyone is waiting until the last minute, there may not be anything to wait for.

Comments from those who were at the Solo Nationals:

  • Dick Berger, been to all 50 nationals but never had a trophy. It is so fun all should go and have a great time.
  • Charlie Clark, I finished last.
  • Note: both Charlie and Dick are 100 percenters in attending the National Solos.
  • Bill and Janet did not finish last.
  • Al Hermanns finished in the middle of the 35.
  • Niles Davis went from 20th to 15th.
  • Rick Myers: We should be good for Lincoln in 2024. For this years event the total entries was 1298.
  • Rick and Al have been looking at I-70 Flying H as they have a new parking lot we can use and will be investigating using this for future solo events.

KVRG REPORT: (Chris Kern & Bill Johnson)

We only had 2 members Roy Lopshire was 7th in GTL and Cliff Ira 2nd in FP.

For next year Heartland May 10th 12th and Ozark June 1st and 2nd.

There is another race track we could use and would be a regional race with a time trail and a track night. Would need 35 regional races. Time trails feels they could support. Track is reasonable but there are no amenities we would need to bring all equipment and of course workers. We might be able to try and copy Pitt for a duel event. So we could run two events at one time.

We need workers for the Lake Garnett GP, should be a fun weekend and this is the 10th anniversary. There will be 200 cars in the groups. We have the RV site and workers get paid and swag.

Oct 19th last track night in America so come out, can do run work and will be something going on after the event. Come out and we will have a good time.

RALLYCROSS REPORT: (Niles – Greg reporting)

Summary of September 17th Ray Rocks Test n Tune:

  • All went well
  • Excellent owners and excellent track
  • Owners are very interested in having rallycross back out there.
  • Only issue is the Ray Rocks zoning and some issues cropping up with the locals being concerned about racing happening at Ray Rocks.
  • Site owners are not as concerned about this and plan to have it taken care of by next season.
  • We are looking forward to adding this site to our rotation!

Summary of September 17th event #8 at I-35 Speedway:

  • A truly excellent event!
  • No major stoppages.
  • Good turnout of 34 drivers.
  • No major timing problems.

Van and Equipment updates:

  • Van and trailer have been working well, no problems to report!
  • Only issue was with the battery for timing board but this issue was quickly resolved with running a power cord from the generator to the power board. (Timing board was positioned close to the trailer allowing this solution to work). Thinking of getting a solar charger as a further solution.

Max, we were using the new laptop, went well just a little backend work needed.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Nominating committee is working hard on filling the slate. At this time we have Paula Diehl for RE, two candidates for ARE Bob Henson and Al Hermanns, Jessica Dorn for Treasurer, Greg Cheney secretary, and board at large Max Baer, Dan Roland and Josh Huff.

Mid Div convention Kansas, Next February 23rd to 25th in Topeka, check these dates. Looking for people to do talks at convention. Would better content.

NATIONAL OFFICE: (Rick Myers)

The national office is very busy right now with championship season going on. RX is looking great for Heartland Park.

National convention January 18th through the 26th 2024 will be virtual again this year, we can reach more people virtually then in person. Down side is the awards given out and saves both for SCCA and those who want to attend but we get a wider audience.

RX night in America low pressure and just running first event 23 and 13 never ran, has potential. Could be a great introductory program for the club.

Club Spec, trying to find partners for the kits to start NC Miata, first gen FRS and BRZ, and Mustang GT S197. This class would run across all SCCA disciplines; road racing, solo, time trial and rally X

NEW BUSINESS

Bill, do we have promotional stuff to sell at events like stickers etc to dress your car? RX, likes stickers and sales have been good but execution of selling problematic. Do we need new stickers? Check to see the conversation from the board we take this up again at the next board meeting.

Jessica, we need stuff for the Holloweenie bring in the things you want to get rid of and we will turn it into money for Go Baby Go.

James Cahill will be giving rides in a semi exotic vehicle at the Hollweenie, promises to be very special.

OLD BUSINESS

None
